CALCULATORS: We will often be working with Graphing Calculators. We have one set of Graphing Calculators available to use in the classroom. They will never be available to check out. It is strongly recommended that the students purchase a calculator for their own use. We use the TI 83 model in class. Ms. Hayson’s has the TI Nspire. If you are investing for the long term, you might want to purchase the Nspire at this time.

Math Class Policies:

  1. Students are accountable for homework, quizzes, tests, and classwork. Classwork should be organized in a Notebook.
  2. Homework is due at the beginning of class on the day after it was assigned. Students who do not have homework complete will bring a reminder note home to be signed by a parent.
  3.  Students who did not understand the homework may write their name and problem number on the poster in the classroom. The question may be addressed in class the next day, or the student may be asked to stay at lunch or after school for help.
  4. Also near the door of the classroom is a sign-up sheet for students who are requesting after school help. Students may stay after school most days until 3:30 and must make arrangements for transportation at that time. While I may not always be available because of meeting or club commitments, only the dates that I am available will be listed on the sign up. Students may also stay in at recess.
  5. Students are responsible for checking notebooks on the classroom shelf for make-up work when they are absent. Classwork, homework, and tests mush all be make up.
  6. Failure is not an option. Any test scores less that Partially Proficient must be redone outside of class time.
  7. During class time, students will often work in groups investigating ways to solve problems together. In order to make this a productive experience, students must participate, stay focused, and not be disruptive to others.
  8. Behavior issues will be handled as follows:
    1. Warning
    2. Recess Detention
    3. After-school detention
    4. Parent contact
    5. Office referral
