Interim Benchmarks

Interim Assessments are used across the district to assess where all students are at academically in the areas of English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. In addition to individual student data, results also inform how groups of students are progressing, what standards students are mastering, what supports and/or interventions are needed within the classroom.

When are students tested?

Interim assessments are given in 3 times/year to all 1st-8th grade students. Interim #1 is held in September, Interim #2 is held in December, and Interim #3 is held in February. A more detailed schedule will be provided closer to the test dates.

How are students scored? How will those scores be used?

Each core subject (English, Math, Science, and Social Studies) will have a test with questions created by a teacher panel from across the district that will assess student knowledge in the subject areas. Scores will inform instruction, ensure students are meeting grade-level expectations, and identify those falling behind so that teachers can intervene. Additionally, teachers will use data to identify strengths and gaps in curriculum and instruction.
